Tips
Pick the ending by the last sound of your name. A name ending in a vowel takes 예요 (제임스예요, 민지예요). A name ending in a consonant takes 이에요 (수진이에요). The same goes for 라고 and 이라고.
Korean names put the family name first: in 김수진, 김 (Kim) is the family name.
Use 저 and 제 (humble "I" and "my") with anyone you are not close to. 나 and 내 are casual.
Questions learners ask
How do you introduce yourself formally in Korean?
Say 안녕하세요, 저는 ___라고 합니다 (annyeonghaseyo, jeoneun ___rago hamnida). Use 이라고 if your name ends in a consonant.
Should I say jeoneun or je ireumeun?
Both are correct. 저는 ___예요 (I am ___) is shorter and more common in conversation.
